Australian Gardening
A Mixture of Native and Traditional Flowers
A Land With a Great Variety of Climates and Gardens
What you grow in your Australian garden will largely depend on where you live and what the climate is like, mixed with the type of soil that you have in your garden.
The latter can vary greatly within a few yards and sometimes different plants and flowers need to be considered within the same parameters of a yard.
Australia has some wonderful native plants and flowers which when added to a domestic garden attract lots of native birds. Natives are also easier to look after especially in dryer seasons.
Popular flowering plants include the colourful petunias, marigolds, and salvia. Roses and other European flowering plants also grow well in certain suburbs.
A classic Aussie rock song quotes "the gardens full of furniture the house is full of plants!" Yep - we also love indoor plants downunder.
